In today’s Oakland Press, Crystal Evola previews the Golden Grizzlies season. (Alas, the paper doesn’t offer this feature on it’s free website, so I cannot share a link.) Evola does point out how brutal OU’s non-conference slate is. Coach Kampe does admit that the schedule is a bit over-the-top (my words, not his).
To make matters worse, the Oakland Press writer shares the news that leading scorer Calvin Wooten was declared academically ineligible this year, thus ending his college career.
The odds of an above .500 season are diminishing rapidly. A ridiculously difficult pre-conference schedule and loss of their leading scorer is not a great combination. Perhaps, an even mark in Mid Con play is expecting too much from this year’s team.
