OU had it’s annual version of Midnight Madness Friday and that means the season is only weeks away.
A look at the Golden Grizzlies 2006-07 schedule reveals that Coach Greg Kampe isn’t afraid of playing anybody, anywhere. While that’s an admirable trait, it can also lead to some pretty lousy won-lost records.
Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Arkansas, UCLA and Marquette highlight the road battles for OU this coming season. That portion of the schedule is daunting, if not suicidal. On the positive side, Oakland’s RPI mark should not be an issue.
It’s great to see the basketball program take on such tough opposition, but you have to feel losses are going to mount early for OU. A strong Mid Continent Conference season is going to be imperative, if the Golden Grizzlies hope to post a record above .500.
